Jeff Finlin Band (With support from The
Wiyos) at The Musician, Leicester
13th September, 2006
On Wednesday 13th September
2006, I went to The Musician Pub in Leicester to see The Wiyos and
The Jeff Finlin Band. The Wiyos are a trio from America who play
hillbilly, ragtime and old country music - Complete with washboard
and honking horns! They kicked the night off with some old favourites
and some original material. A particular favourite was 'Some of
These Days'. They reminded me of an American Gravelly Hillbillies!
Fun stuff, but still great music with some excellent harmonies.
As always, Jeff put on a fantastic show!!!! I always love the way
he changes either the song arrangements, the band line-up or even
style of performance for each tour - His last tour was very acoustic
whereas this tour is with a full band sound! - And it really did
sound great! Just like the original recordings! The musicians were
also first class - Especially Jimmy Page look-a-like, Paul Guerin
on guitar!!!! Jeff played songs from his previous albums and also
tracks from his new CD, 'Angels in Disguise'. Jeff apologised because
he had accidently left his normal specs back home in America and
that we'd have to put up with the 'rock star' look! It really didn't
matter because they definitely went with the rockin' performance!
Some photos from the night
have been added to the 'Nashpop' section of The Hanmade Website,
