Jeff Finlin Band and Will Kimbrough at The
Musician, Leicester
24th October,
2001
On 24th
October, 2001, I saw the Jeff Finlin Band and Will Kimbrough at
The Musician in Leicester. Pat Buchanan, who had toured with Jeff
earlier this year, was due to join him this time, but unfortunately
he was unable to make it; So, guitarist Will Kimbrough was asked
along. Will is a well respected guitarist in Nashville and has worked
with a variety of musicians, including Rodney Crowell and Kim Richey
(Who he toured with in 1999 as they were the supporting artistes
on Raul Malo's UK tour).
Will
began the night by playing a selection of tracks from his new solo
album, 'This'. It is his first solo record and he recorded it last
year for his own Waxy Silver Records. It was recently released in
the UK with Gravity Records. Jeff Finlin's album, 'Original Fin'
was also recently re-released in the UK on the Gravity Records label.
Will is a wonderful guitarist and his style of music ranges from
Rock/Pop to Country.
Jeff then took centre
stage and played songs from his album, 'Original Fin', his second
solo album, 'Highway Diaries' and also a couple of new songs from
his soon to be released album, 'Somewhere South of Wonder'. The
songs included, 'Eighteen Tons', 'Love and Happiness', 'Delta Down',
'Somewhere West Of Rome' and the rockin', 'Waiting on a Flood'.
Everyone was having a great time and I remember one member of the
audience was also dancing to 'Eighteen Tons'! Kevin Rapillo and
Kevin Hornback were also amazing on drums and bass as they were
when I saw them in February at The Musician
