Heaven Can Wait

The musical, 'Heaven Can Wait' has just finished a run at The Belgrade Theatre in Coventry. Without giving the plot away, the play is about Buddy Holly (Andy Nichol), The Big Bopper (Michael Cuckson), Richie Valens (Damien Edwards) and pilot, Roger Peterson (Ian Conningham) after the 'plane crash and they find themselves in a strange place that looks like a Diner. They have to stay there until they are allowed up to Heaven. They are helped along their journey by Stella (Jan Graveson), who was also waiting to be allowed into Heaven. Together they perform a large selection of songs throughout the show, including 'Chantilly Lace', 'La Bamba', 'Let's Go', 'Peggy Sue', 'Donna', 'That'll Be The Day' and many more classic 'Rock and Roll' songs! They even performed a few of the songs 'Doo Wop' style with just vocals, which was great to hear! It was also nice to hear Bob Montgomery (Kevin Montgomery's dad!) get a mention when Buddy was talking to the others about when he used to play country music. The Big Bopper says, "Isn't that when you were with Bob?". Bob also got a mention in the show's programme on the page about Buddy Holly.

Even Roger Petersson came out from behind his drum kit and sang (and 'danced'!) an amazing version of Lucille! As the flyer said, if you loved 'Buddy', you'll love this show! (....Actually, even if you haven't seen 'Buddy' you'll love this show!)
