The Mavericks live at Southgate House - Ballroom, Kentucky

1st May, 2003

By Carol-Lee

THE MAVERICKS ARE BACK! Just got back from Kentucky Friday evening.....I'm still recovering from the incredible performance. They looked like they were having so much fun. Even when Raul forgot the words to "Foolish Heart" and had to stop the song. He told the audience, "I knew I was in trouble when we first came out and you all knew the words". The crowd was very enthusiastic and supportive. Since this was my first Mavericks show I paid special attention to Paul and Robert (who'd I'd never seen in person) and was very impressed with the both of them. They brought a cake out for Robert's birthday and he accidentally dropped it all over the stage. They never introduced the rest of the band but I did talk to Eddie Perez after the show who is the new guitar player. He harmonized well with Raul and Paul told me he is a great musician and a fan of the band. I could go on forever because it was truly a fantastic fun 105 minutes but I know most of you will witness them for yourselves in July. Raul promises a full tour after the CD comes out in September. Thanks to all of you nice people who sent me well wishes for my first Mav's concert! It was great and I enjoyed meeting Paul and Robert and talking to Raul again. Play List: Because of You, Dance the Night Away, Things You Said to Me, Bottle Let Me Down, Missing You, Here Comes the Rain, Would You Believe, Foolish Heart, Pretend, Spanish acoustic solo (didn't mention the name and not on the play list), Dream River, Time Goes By , Hell to Paradise, Guantanamera, All That Heaven Will Allow, There Goes My Heart, Twist and Shout, Crying Shame, and Bring Me Down.
