The Bootleg Beatles at The Warwick Arts
Centre, Coventry
10th
May 2002
On 10th
May, The Bootlegs made a welcome return to The Warwick Arts Centre
in Coventry. (Almost everyone is confused by the name of the place!
Neil Harrison (Bootleg John) joked that they were playing the Coventry
Arts Centre in Warwick tomorrow (That would be confusing!:-))
The band hadn't played here for a couple of years, so I was looking
forward to seeing them again and hoping that the show was going
to be as great as it was before and the times before that- And I
wasn't disappointed! It was the first time I had seen them with
their new band member, David Caitlin-Birch, aka. Paul McCartney.
Like the previous Paul, he is brilliant as Macca and is a terrific
singer! New songs in the show included, 'When I'm 64', 'Yesterday'
and 'Till There Was You'!
During
the show (In-particularly when watching Andre as George) I remembered
that George Harrison once saw them in concert and said to the band
afterwards, "You know the chords better than I do!" It
must have been funny watching 'himself' and his band in concert!:-)
Andre is spot on as George and I love his solo acoustic version
of 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' - Although, they didn't do the
song this time, but they performed some new George Harrison songs
- Including 'Here Comes The Sun' and 'Something' from the Abbey
Road LP.
I won't
spoil the setlist for any of you who are planning on seeing this
tour, but there are some new additions and some old favourites (Well,
they're all old favourites really!:-))
By the
way, I can highly recommend Neil Harrison (John) and Andre Barreau's
(George) solo albums, 'Richmond Hill' and 'What Kind of Country
is This?'! Andre's band is called, 'Those Magnificent Men'.
You passed
the audition guys!
